Conservative Health Secretary confirms that Ealing and Charing Cross A&Es to remain open

The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock MP, announced in Parliament on 26thMarch that the Department of Health no longer supports the local NHS Shaping a Healthier Future plan and confirmed that proposed changes to Ealing & Charing Cross A&E departments “would not happen”.

In fact, Ealing Hospital has seen new services open in the last few months, including a new dedicated pioneering day care heart failure unit.

This comes at a time when the Conservative Government is investing £20.5billion a year extra in real terms by 2023-2024 in our NHS. The accompanying Long-Term Plan will transform patient care and make sure every penny of taxpayers’ money is spent wisely.

The plan will ensure the NHS provides the best maternity care in the world, supports ageing and increasing independence, improves outcome for all major conditions, increases the workforce and brings the NHS into the digital age.
